Free Live Concert - Hama Jang

Saturday February 21, 2015

Free LIVE MUSIC, 6:00 - 8:00PM at the Coronation Pavilion.

A four piece band playing a mixture of contemporary and classic local kine jams! Two boys who grew up in Hawaii and enjoy singing together, what we call “KANIKAPILA.” Kanikapila is a style of Hawaiian music produced in an impromptu jam session, most commonly taking place at a beach, or family gathering.

Band member, Chadd Paishon is a member of the Polynesian Voyaging Society and the navigator of the Makalii. Makalii is Hawaii’s Big Island’s own voyaging canoe as he shares stories and mele (music) of Hawaii. “The ocean isn’t what separates us. It’s our bridge, it’s our road,” quotes Chadd, and many of our mele (music) comes from the gift of sharing our culture.
